Remembering the Future

Toward an Eschatological Ontology

What if the final truth of our being lies not in the past, but in the future?

Remembering the Future brings together the central themes of John Zizioulas’s eschatological ontology. Its governing insight is that the truth of being is not determined only by the past or by the world as it presently stands: creation’s ultimate truth is disclosed from the eschaton, the coming Kingdom. The end is therefore not merely the last event in history, but an ontological key to being itself. The book gives particular attention to creation, freedom, resurrection, the Eucharist, time, and the future.
